Green tea extract inhibits proliferation and spreading of brain cancer cells

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate induces apoptosis, inhibits proliferation and decreases invasion of glioma cell

This basic research focused on the role of green tea extract - particularly the antioxidant EGCG - on the spread and death of brain cancer cells. The results show that the EGCG contained in green tea extract is able to prevent the spread and proliferation of cancer cells and to promote their death. The authors concluded that EGCG is an effective substance in the treatment of cancer, has no side effects and can be used for the prevention of cancer. Further details can be found in the study.
