Glutamine and vitamin E protect against liver damage

Protective effects of glutamine dipeptide and alpha-tocopherol against ischemia-reperfusion injury in the isolated rat liver.

This study investigated the effects of the amino acid glutamine, either alone or combined with vitamin E, against ischemia-reperfusion of the liver, a condition that damages organs and tissues and is an important cause of liver damage. The experiments were performed with rats. The researchers discovered that both glutamine and vitamin E showed protective effects against ischemia-reperfusion-induced liver injury. More details can be found in the study.
