Micronutrient combination inhibits spreading of brain cancer cells (glioma)

Inhibition of glioma cell line A-172 MMP activity and cell invasion in vitro by a nutrient mixture.

In this study the anti-tumor properties of a micronutrient combination containing lysine, proline, vitamin C and green tea extract on the spreading (metastasis) of brain tumor cells (glioma) were examined. For this purpose, cells of a brain tumor cell line were treated with this micronutrient combination at different doses. The results showed that the micronutrient combination was able to significantly inhibit the secretion of the tumor marker MMP and the spread of tumor cells, and thus represent a possible therapeutic approach for the treatment of brain tumors.
