Low zinc concentrations are associated with cirrhosis

Low plasma zinc concentrations in pediatric patients with cirrhosis.

The aim of this study was to determine zinc concentrations in the blood of children and adolescents with cirrhosis (scarring of the liver). 30 patients were investigated. The results showed that low zinc levels were common among children with cirrhosis. Therefore, the researchers pointed out that zinc supplementation should be considered for patients with liver cirrhosis. More details can be found in the study.
