Lower vitamin D levels are associated with risk factors for type 2 diabetes

Vitamin D deficiency in obese children and its relationship to glucose homeostasis.

This study examined the relationships between vitamin D and diabetes risk factors (i.e. blood sugar levels) in obese children. Data of 411 obese American children were recorded. The results showed that lower vitamin D levels were associated with increased risk factors for diabetes in obese children. Further details can be found in the study.
