Micronutrient supplementations support bone health

Effect of vitamin D, calcium and multiple micronutrient supplementation on vitamin D and bone status in Bangladeshi premenopausal garment factory workers with hypovitaminosis D: a double-blinded, randomised, placebo-controlled 1-year intervention.

The present study assessed the effects of different micronutrient combinations on bone health. 200 healthy people were given either vitamin D, vitamin D plus calcium, multiple micronutrients plus calcium or no treatment. The results showed that the vitamin D and calcium supplementation as well as the supplementation of multiple micronutrients and calcium had beneficial effects on bone health. It was concluded that the tested micronutrient combinations can reduce the risk of osteoporosis. More details can be found in the study.
