Modulation of uPA, MMPs and their inhibitors by a novel nutrient mixture in human glioblastoma cell lines.
This study dealt with the influence of a micronutrient mixture on various enzyme levels, which may serve as a prognostic tumor marker in human brain tumor cells (urokinase, matrix metalloprotease). For this purpose cells of three different brain tumor cell lines were examined and treated with micronutrients in various dosages. The result shows that, depending on the dosage, micronutrients are able to inhibit the secretion of these tumor markers. The authors therefore conclude that micronutrients have a therapeutic potential in the treatment of brain tumors. Further details can be found in the study.
