Omega-3 fatty acids reduce irregular heartbeat

Serum long-chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and risk of hospital diagnosis of atrial fibrillation in men.

This study evaluated the effects of omega-3 fatty acids on atrial fibrillation, which is a common form of irregular heartbeat (cardiac arrhythmia). 2174 healthy men were involved. The results showed that an increased concentration of omega-3 fatty acids in the blood can protect against atrial fibrillation. Further details can be found in the study.
