Vitamin E supplementation reduces chemotherapy-induced nerves damage

Vitamin E for prophylaxis against chemotherapy-induced neuropathy: a randomized controlled trial

This study determined whether vitamin E supplementation has a protective effect in chemotherapy-induced nerve damage.
31 patients with cancer were assigned into two groups:
  • group I, including 16 patients, received vitamin E during chemotherapy and 3 months after its cessation;
  • group II, including 15 patients, received no supplementation.

The medical examinations indicated a significant reduction in nerve damage in the group of patients who received vitamin E supplementation. In conclusion, these data indicated that vitamin E can play a protective role in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
