This review examined current evidence for the benefit of a dietary supplementation with zinc and other micronutrients in preventing micronutrient deficiencies which result from the conventional treatment of gastrointestinal inflammation. The collected studies showed that micronutrient supplementation can reduce inflammation in patients with gastrointestinal inflammation, boost their immune system and decrease drug side effects related to the treatment of this condition. More details can be found in the study.
