Zinc decreases inflammation

Zinc: role in immunity, oxidative stress and chronic inflammation.

In this review, recent findings regarding zinc supplementation in various diseases were presented. In particular, it was shown that zinc supplementation was effective in decreasing markers of inflammation, such as TNF-alpha and IL-1beta in elderly individuals and in patients with sickle cell disease-SCD (red blood cells disorder). In conclusion it was stated that zinc has been successfully used as a therapeutic and preventive agent for many conditions. Further details can be found in the study.
