Summary
Post-surgery infections are the major cause of prolonged hospitalization in patients with tumor of the esophagus. This study evaluated the administration of immune-enhancing nutrients prior to esophageal surgery. A total of 123 patients were investigated. The results suggested that the administration of immune-enhancing nutrients reduced infections and shortened the hospitalization. Further details can be found in the study.
