Summary

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of curcumin on pro-inflammatory factors such as interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). IL-1beta and TNF-alpha play a key role in the development of osteoarthritis (OA).The effects of curcumin were studied in human cells treated with IL-1beta and TNF-alpha for up to 72h. The results indicated that curcumin can be considered as a natural anti-inflammatory agent for treating OA through suppression of pro-inflammatory factors. Further details can be found in the study.
