Summary

Researchers from different American research institutes investigated the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of coenzyme Q10 in chronic hemodialysis patients. To this end, 20 patients were administered various doses of coenzyme Q10. Before and after supplementation, the researchers measured several markers for oxidative stress, which is usually increased in this group of patients, and coenzyme Q10 levels. Coenzyme Q10 administration (1800 mg/day) increased coenzyme Q10 levels in the patients’ blood, improved cell function, and decreased oxidative stress levels. More details can be found in the study.
