Summary

Curcumin and coenzyme Q10 have neuroprotective effects due to their ability to decrease inflammation and oxidative stress, which are usually increased in migraine patients. This study evaluated the combined effects of curcumin and coenzyme Q10 on migraine symptoms and the quality of life in migraine patients. 100 patients were divided into four groups: 1) combination of curcumin (80 mg) plus coenzyme Q10 (300 mg); 2) only curcumin (80 mg); 3) only coenzyme Q10 (300 mg); 4) no supplements, but standard prophylactic drugs. Several migraine characteristics were assessed at the start of the study and after 8 weeks of supplementation. The study results showed a significant synergistic effect of curcumin and coenzyme Q10 on the frequency, severity, and duration of migraine attacks. No side effects were observed. More details can be found in the study.
