Summary
This study investigated the effects of the drug iloprost and vitamin C after ischemia-reperfusion (tissue damage caused by the restoration of blood supply to the tissue), which is an important cause of liver damage. The experiments were performed with 34 rats. The researchers discovered that both iloprost and vitamin C decreased kidney damage after ischemia-reperfusion. However, vitamin C was found to be more effective than iloprost in preventing kidney dysfunction after surgery. More details can be found in the study.
