Summary

Tuberculosis and pneumonia are both infections of the lungs. This study was conducted to analyze the levels of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and its oxidized forms (dehydroascorbic acid and diketogulonic acid) in the blood of patients with tuberculosis and pneumonia. It was found that ascorbic acid was decreased in these patients, suggesting the necessity of an appropriate vitamin C intake to maintain normal lung function. Further details can be found in the study.
