Summary

The aim of this study was to identify vitamin D deficiency among 157 patients with prediabetes (high blood sugar levels but not in the diabetes range) and to evaluate the relationship between vitamin D status and insulin resistance (the diminished ability of the body to respond to the action of insulin in decreasing blood sugars). The results showed that vitamin D deficiency played a role in the development or worsening of insulin resistance in individuals with prediabetes. Further details can be found in the study.
