Summary

This study investigated the effects of vitamin supplementations on the antioxidant defenses of the liver, i.e. its ability to scavenge free radicals that cause cellular damage. The experiments were performed with rats that were given either vitamin C, vitamin E or vitamin C plus vitamin E for 28 days. The results showed that the vitamin supplementations increased the antioxidant defenses of the liver, thereby reducing the risk of chronic diseases. Further details can be found in the study.
