Summary

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of vitamin B1 (thiamin) supplementation on inflammation and oxidative stress in women with gestational diabetes mellitus. 60 patients participated in this study and were allocated to two groups that received either 100 mg/day of vitamin B1 supplements (30 patients) or a placebo (30 patients) for 6 weeks. After the supplementation period, two measured indicators of inflammation and oxidative stress significantly decreased compared with patients in the placebo group.
