Summary

This meta-analysis was conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the effect of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) on coronary heart disease. For this purpose, 18 randomized controlled trials and 16 prospective cohort studies were analyzed. The studies suggest that the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. More details can be found in the study.
