The aim of this investigation was to evaluate the relationship between vitamin C, consumption of fruit and vegetables and the risk of developing inflammatory polyarthritis (inflammation of several joints, IP). Men and women aged 45–74 years were recruited in the study. The researchers discovered that lower intakes of vitamin C, fruit and vegetables were associated with an increased risk of developing IP. Further details can be found in the study.
