Many heart attack patients have low blood levels of magnesium which, in turn, are associated with heart rhythm problems (heart arrhythmias). This study analyzed the effect of magnesium supplementation on 118 patients with arrhythmias. It was found that magnesium was able to improve heart rhythm in a number of patients. Based on their results the researchers concluded that supplementation with magnesium is a reasonable approach to treat arrhythmias after heart attack. Further details can be found in the study.
