Summary

At the Dr. Rath Research Institute for Cellular Medicine, a specific combination of micronutrients – including vitamin C, lysine, proline and green tea extract – was examined for its ability to inhibit specific enzymes that help cancer cells spread through the body (metastasis). The analysis of prostate cancer cells proved that the micronutrient combination inhibited the production of the collagen-digesting enzymes MMP-9, MMP-2 (metalloproteinase 9 and metalloproteinase 2) and uPA (urokinaseartiger plasminogen activator) in a dose-dependent manner. The production of the natural inhibitors of these enzymes (TIMP) was simultaneously increased with the help of micronutrients. These results show that the tested micronutrients counteract the spread of prostate cancer cells. Further details can be found in the study.
