Summary

Quercetin is known for its antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects. An Iranian study investigated the effects of quercetin supplementation on inflammation and oxidative stress in amateur athletes. 60 participants were involved, which were divided into 4 subgroups of each 15 participants. In the course of 8 weeks, one subgroup received quercetin and vitamin C, one group received only quercetin, one group only vitamin C, and one group got a placebo. The results showed that the combination of quercetin and vitamin C was the most effective in reducing oxidative stress and the measured inflammatory parameters.
