Summary

This study evaluated the relationship between blood levels of vitamin D and uterine fibroids (benign tumors of the uterus). Fibroids were determined by the screening of premenopausal women (620 blacks, 416 whites) and vitamin D status was assessed in blood samples. The results showed that sufficient vitamin D was associated with a reduced risk of uterine fibroids. Further details can be found in the study.
