Summary

In this research article the benefit of dietary supplementation with vitamin D3 in patients with prostate cancer was demonstrated. The researchers reported that daily supplementation with 4000 international units (IU) of vitamin D3 was effective in improving outcome patients with early prostate cancer. Furthermore, it was found that African-American men had lower overall vitamin D levels than white American men, with a higher risk of prostate cancer. The results suggest, according to the scientists, that supplementation with vitamin D can reduce the high prostate cancer rates and death rates of African-American men. Further details of this research can be found in the study.
