Summary

According to a study conducted by several research institutes in various countries, vitamin A and zinc supplementation increase the efficacy of standard antituberculosis therapy. Two groups of each 40 participants with newly diagnosed tuberculosis were involved in this study. One group received a supplement containing vitamin A and zinc; the other group received a placebo. Both groups additionally received the standard recommended antituberculosis therapy. Effects were measured before, after 2, and after 6 months of treatment. In conclusion, the efficacy of the conventional antituberculosis treatment was improved by the vitamin A and zinc supplement after 2 months. Please refer to the study for further details.
