Summary
This study evaluated the relationship between vitamin C deficiency and the development of fractures caused by osteoporosis (“spontaneous” fractures). Analyses of vitamin C-deficient mice revealed a reduction of bone formation (process by which new bone is produced) by more than 90%. The researchers concluded that vitamin C is essential for the maintenance of bone health. Further details can be found in the study.
