Summary

The present study investigated the relationship between vitamin C intake and the risk of gout. Gout is the most common type of inflammatory arthritis. 46,994 participants with no history of gout were included in the study. Vitamin C intake was assessed every 4 years through questionnaires. The results showed that higher vitamin C intakes were associated with a lower risk of gout. It was concluded that supplemental vitamin C intake can be beneficial in the prevention of this inflammatory disease. Further details can be found in the study.
