Summary

This Iranian trial explored the effects of vitamin D supplementation in migraine patients. 80 patients received either a daily dose of vitamin D (2000 IU/50µg) or a placebo for 12 weeks during the trial. At the start and after the trial, headache characteristics (by diaries) and inflammation parameters (by blood analysis) were determined. The results revealed significantly lower headache days per month, reduced attacks duration, less severe headaches, lower analgesics use, and a reduced inflammation level than the placebo group. Further details can be found in the study.
