Researchers from Iran conducted this study to determine the effects of folate supplementation on glucose (sugar) regulation in overweight and obese men with type 2 diabetes who also used conventional drugs. 48 participants were divided into two groups receiving either folic acid (5 mg\/day) or a placebo for 8 weeks. Supplementation with folic acid resulted in an 8% decrease in long-term glucose levels (HbA1C) and a 16% decrease in insulin in the patients\u2019 blood. Additionally, a 19% increase in folate and vitamin B12 (17%) levels were observed in the supplementation group compared with the placebo group. In conclusion, folic acid supplementation improved glucose regulation in the involved diabetes patients. More details can be found in the study.<\/p>\n
