Summary

Zinc deficiency is widely recognized as a risk factor for morbidity and mortality, especially among young children. Acute and persistent diarrhea, a common cause of death in young children, can be induced by zinc deficiencies. Supplementation of zinc can be beneficial to reduce the duration of acute and persistent diarrhea. More details can be found in the review article.
