Summary
According to an Indian study, supplementation with zinc and vitamin A combined with other micronutrients could be efficient in treating children with acute diarrhea. The study examined the effects of different micronutrient combinations in children aged between 6 and 24 months with diarrhea and moderate dehydration. The study results were compared to the outcomes in the untreated control group. In total, this study included 167 children. Children who received a micronutrient combination demonstrated a significant reduction in complaints compared with the placebo group. Supplementation of zinc showed a particularly beneficial effect.
