Vitamin C supplementation protects against liver disease

Ascorbic acid supplementation has a cytoprotective effect on secondary biliary cirrhosis: experimental study in young rats.

This study evaluated the effects of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) on secondary biliary cirrhosis, a serious form of liver disease. The experiments were performed using 40 rats. The results showed that vitamin C supplementation had a protective effect on secondary biliary cirrhosis. Further details can be found in the study.
