Summary
Can vitamin D3 supplements improve the immune system of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS)? To shed light on this question, 40 MS patients received a high-dose vitamin D3 supplement containing 10,400 IU (260 µg) of vitamin D3 or a lower-dose supplement with 800 IU (20 µg) of vitamin D3 daily for 6 months. It was found that the high-dose supplementation with vitamin D3 induced beneficial effects on the immune function of the patients. The tested vitamin therapy was considered beneficial, safe, and well-tolerable. More details can be found in the study.
