Summary

This Iranian study aimed to investigate the effect of l-arginine supplementation on various heart functions and the quality of life in 50 patients with heart failure. During 10 weeks, the patients received either a supplement containing 3 g l-arginine per day or a placebo. Heart function, blood pressure, and quality of life were assessed before and after the supplementation period. The study results showed that the used amount of l-arginine supplementation for 10 weeks significantly improved various heart functions, blood pressure, and quality of life in these patients, compared to patients in the placebo group.
