Summary

Researchers of the university of Vienna (Austria) tested the effects of magnesium intake on the exercise dependent heart rate of 53 male patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). They found that, compared to a placebo, 15mmol of magnesium twice a day for 6 months significantly increased the intracellular magnesium levels. These results support the favorable effects of intake of oral magnesium on exercise tolerance and left ventricular function during rest and exercise in CAD patients.
