Summary

This study, executed by two research departments from Naples, Italy, aimed to evaluate the possible involvement of zinc in the complex development process of endometriosis, a disease of the female reproductive system. The study included 86 women: 42 were diagnosed with pelvic endometriosis, and 44 were healthy patients. The investigation revealed that the group with endometriosis showed decreased zinc concentrations compared to the healthy group. This result confirms that zinc can affect the development of this disease. Additionally, the researchers suggested that zinc could be used as an indicator to detect women at high risk of endometriosis. More details can be found in the study.
