Summary
This study investigated whether vitamin D and calcium can prevent bone deterioration, which is an early sign of osteoporosis. Elderly women, consuming either vitamin D- and calcium-fortified yogurt or non-fortified yogurt, were observed for 56 days. The results showed that the fortification of dairy products with vitamin D and calcium can prevent bone deterioration in elderly at risk of osteoporosis. More detail can be found in the study.
